Battalion Sergeant Major

CSM Patrick D. Nicholson

Sergeant Major Patrick D. Nicholson was born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama and enlisted in the United States Army on July 11, 1990. Upon completion of Basic Training and Advance Individual Training, he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 16S - Pedestal Mounted Shoulder Fired Missile (Stinger Gunnery). SGM Nicholson would later change his MOS to 25B Information Systems Analyst.

SGM Nicholson’s military education includes the Sergeants Major Course and all other Noncommissioned Officer Education System Courses, Army Recruiter Course, Army Instructor Course, Army Airborne School, Defense Packaging of Hazardous Materials for Transportation Course, Combat Lifesaver Course and a variety of additional training and duty courses. He is a graduate of the Wayland Baptist University in Hawaii with both Bachelor’s and Associate’s Degrees in Management of Information Systems. He also completed his Masters in Management Information System in April of 2017 with Trident International University.

SGM Nicholson has served as a Stinger Team Chief and Platoon Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division. Other notable duty positions held by SGM Nicholson include: 18E Instructor / Writer Special Warfare Training Group, Fort Bragg, NC; Tactical Network/Radio Operator, Special Operations Command Pacific, Camp Smith, HI; Contingency Operations NCOIC, Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL; Combined Joint Task Force, J6 Sergeant Major (Afghanistan); 8th Theater Sustainment Command, G-6 Sergeant Major, Fort Shafter, HI; and G-6 Operations Sergeant Major, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY. He currently serves as Sergeant Major, 4th Signal Center (Theater) / Senior Computer Network Defense Manager, Regional Cyber Center (Pacific), 516th Signal Brigade, Fort Shafter, HI.

SGM Nicholson’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with bronze oak cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with four bronze oak leaf clusters, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Coast Guard Unit Citation, Coast Guard Special Operations Ribbon, and many other service and duty commendations. SGM Nicholson is also a recipient of the Signal Corps Regimental Association’s Bronze Order of Mercury.

SGM Nicholson is married to Mary Jane Padilla-Nicholson. They have two daughters; Alexis 20, Jasmine 19, and a son; Darius 14.
