CSM William E. Lenington

CSM Lenington is a native of Benton, Illinois and entered the U.S. Army on 13 June 1991. He completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as a (91B) Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. CSM Lenington has served as a Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, Battalion Motor Sergeant, Brigade Maintenance Supervisor, Operations NCOIC; Support Operations NCOIC, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant and Division G4 Maintenance Sergeant Major.


CSM Lenington’s prior assignments include the 13th Military Police Company, Vicenza, Italy; 50th Signal Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment (Airborne), Vicenza, Italy; Headquarters & Headquarters Company 650th Allied Military Intelligence Group, Sarajevo, Bosnia; Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 173RD Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy; Group Support Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 524th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (CSSB), 45th Sustainment Brigade, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Foxtrot Forward Support Company, 1-67 Armor, 2nd Brigade Combat Team Heavy (Warhorse) 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado; and Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion (HHBN), 10th Mountain Division (Light).

CSM Lenington’s operational deployments consist of Operation Joint Forge, Sarajevo Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom I, VI & VII, Operation Enduring Freedom VI and Operation Spartan Shield, Camp Buehring, Kuwait.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (3 oak leaf clusters), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (1 Service Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Service Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (3 Service Stars), Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5th Award), NATO Medal, Driver/Mechanic Badge, Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge and Italian Foreign Parachutist Wings.

CSM Lenington is also a member of the Sergeant Morales Club.

CSM Lenington’s military education includes all levels of the Non-Commissioned Officer Education System, culminating with the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA, Class #66), Airborne School, and the Jumpmaster Course. CSM Lenington’s civilian education includes an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College, a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Organizational Management (Global Specialization) from Ashford University.

CSM Lenington is married and has two children.
