Lieutenant Colonel Jason P. Book

Lt. Col. Book enlisted into the San Diego Army National Guard B Co, in 1995 as a 12B Combat Engineer. After reaching the rank of Sergeant he entered the ROTC program at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD.

After graduation from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Political Science, Lt. Col. Book was commissioned through Army ROTC as a US Army as a Quartermaster Officer and branch detailed to the Infantry in June 2002.

After commissioning Lt. Col. Book’s first assignment was as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, Company C Co 1-41IN BN, Ft. Riley, KS, deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in June of 2002. After completion of the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course he served as the plans officer, S3 and Company Commander of 35th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Sagami General Depot, Japan from 2003-2006. After finishing Company Command he was assigned to to ARCENT G4 as a Plans Officer. From 2011-2013 he served as the Chief of Eighth Army G4. After completion of the Command and General Staff College he served as the Brigade S4 for 89th Military Police Brigade. He then served as the Foreign Military Sales Program Manager (Foreign Military Sales (FMS) is the U.S. Government’s program for transferring defense articles, services, and training to our international partners and international organizations) in the United States Military Training Mission Saudi Arabia. Lt. Col. Book then served as a Transportation Officer and Materiel Management Branch Chief at 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. On July 8, 2020 Lt. Col. Book assumed command of the 25th Transportation Battalion.

Lt. Col. Book earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. He is also a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Fort Benning, GA, Logistics Combined Captains Career Course, Ft. Lee, VA, and Command and General Staff College, Ft. Gordon, GA.

LTC Book’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLC, Army Commendation Medal with OLC, Army Achievement Medal with OLC.

Lt. Col. Book is married and has two children.
