CSM Melanie Carr

    Command Sergeant Major Melanie Carr is a native of Troy, Alabama. She enlisted in the United States Army three years after graduating from high school. She is currently serving as the 2-1 Air Defense Artillery Regiment as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major.

    CSM Carr has served in a variety of positions including: 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Operation Sergeant Major; First Sergeant, Echo Company, 4-2 combat Aviation Brigade, Camp Humphreyís, Korea; First Sergeant, Bravo Battery, 1-1 ADA BN (patriot), Okinawa, Japan and Fort Bliss, Texas; master air defense evaluator, HHB, 1-1 ADA BN (patriot), Fort Bliss, Texas; platoon sergeant, Delta Battery, 1-1 ADA BN (Patriot), Fort Bliss, Texas; Bravo Battery, 6-52 ADA BN, Ansbach, Germany; Operations NCOIC, 6-52 ADA BN, Ansbach, Germany; squad leaders, Bravo and Foxtrot Battery, 6-52 ADA BN, Ansbach, Germany; squad leader, HHC, 7th Infantry Division (lightfighter), Fort Ord, California; squad leader, 3-79 FA BN, Giessen, Germany.

    CSM Carrís military education includes the primary leadership course; basic noncommissioned officers course; advanced noncommissioned officers course; first sergeantís course; United States Army sergeant majorís academy(class 61); force management course; battalion CSM pre-command course; total army instructor course; alcohol drug abuse course; combat life saver course; composite risk management course; managerís safety course; and the commanderís safety course.

    CSM Carrís civilian education includes an associate in applied science. She is currently pursuing her bachelorís degree through Oklahoma University. CSM Carrís military awards include the meritorious service medal (3olc), the army commendation medal (6olc), the army achievement medal (7olc), the driver/mechanicís badge and the German Schutzenschnur badge (bronze).
