ROK-U.S. investigate shooting involving U.S. troop

YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea The Korean National Police and the U.S. military are investigating a shooting incident involving a U.S. service member on March 2, 2013. 

The shooting victim, a U.S. service member, is in stable condition at the Brian Allgood Community Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.  Service members involved in incidents of this nature are routinely tested for intoxicating substances.  Initial results do not indicate the presence of alcohol.

The U.S. military is cooperating fully with the Korean National Police and U.S. Military Police investigators as they continue to gather facts related into this incident.

Eighth Army’s relationship with the Korean community is very important and we regret this unfortunate incident.  We are thankful for the continued support to our Soldiers and families by our Korean hosts as we continue to enforce the highest standards of professionalism among our service members. 

“Although the details of this incident are unclear, we take all incidents involving U.S. service members in the local community very seriously and will work closely with the Korean National Police as they continue their investigation,” said Brig. Gen. Chris Gentry, Eighth Army Deputy Commanding General.

주한미군 장병 관련 총기 발사 사건 한미 수사

YONGSAN GARRISON, Seoul, Korea - The Korean National Police and the U.S. Military are investigating a shooting incident involving a U.S. Service member on Mar 2, 2013. 

대한민국, 미군 용산기지 – 한국 경찰과 주한미군 헌병대는 2013년 3월 2일 에 발생한 주한미군 관련 총격 사건을 수사하고 있습니다.

The shooting victim, a U.S. Service member, is in stable condition at the Brian Allgood Community Hospital in Seoul, Korea.  Service members involved in incidents of this nature are routinely tested for intoxicating substances.  Initial results do not indicate the presence of alcohol.

총격 사건 피해자인 미군 장병은 대한민국 서울 소재 브라이언 올굿 커뮤니티 병원 (Brian Allgood Community Hospital)에 입원하고 있으며 상태는 안정적입니다.  이 사건과 관련된 해당 미군 장병들은 관례대로 음주 측정 검사를 실시했으며 1차 조사 결과 알코올은 발견되지 않았습니다.

The U.S. military is cooperating fully with the Korean National Police and U.S. Military Police investigators as they continue to gather facts related into this incident.

미군은 한국 경찰과 미 헌병대 수사관들이 사건 관련 사실을 수집하는데 있어 전적으로 협조하고 있습니다.

미8군은 한국 지역사회와의 관계를 매우 중요하게 생각하며 이번 불미한 사건에 대해서 유감스럽게 생각합니다. 한국 국민들이 미 장병과 그 가족들을 계속 지원해 주시는 것에 대해 감사드리며, 미8군은 계속해서 미군 장병 들이 최상의 전문성을 유지하도록 노력하고 있습니다.

“비록 이 사건의 자세한 사항은 불확실 하지만, 미8군은 지역사회에서 미군장병이 관련된 모든 사건에 대해서 매우 심각하게 생각하고 있습니다. 또한 한국 경찰이 계속해서  수사를 진행하는데 긴밀하게 공조할 것입니다.” 라고 미8군 부사령관 크리스 젠트리 소장이 말했 습니다.
